Today's I Ching for Alec Guinness
The coins have been tossed...
| The present is embodied in Hexagram 47 - K'un (Oppression): Despite exhaustion, there may yet be progress and success. For the firm and correct, the really great man, there will be good fortune. He will fall into no error. If he make speeches, his words cannot be made good. | | The second line, undivided, shows its subject straightened amidst his wine and viands. There come to him the red knee-covers of the ruler. It will be well for him to maintain his sincerity, as in sacrificing. Active operations on his part will lead to evil, but he will be free from blame. | | The sixth line, divided, shows its subject straitened, as if bound with creepers, or in a high and dangerous position, and saying to himself, "If I move, I shall repent it". If he does repent of former errors, there will be good fortune in his going forward. | | The situation is shifting, but neither Yin (the passive feminine force) nor Yang (the active masculine force) is gaining ground. |
| The future is embodied in Hexagram 12 - P'I (Stagnation): There is a lack of understanding between the different classes of men, and its indication is unfavorable to the firm and correct course of the superior man. We see in it greatness gone and the lesser come upon us. | | The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Tui (Lake), which is transforming into Chi'en (Heaven). As part of this process, joy, pleasure, and attraction are giving way to strength and creativity. | | The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram K'an (Water), which is transforming into K'un (Earth). As part of this process, danger and the unknown are giving way to docility and receptivity. |
