| The first (bottommost) line, divided, suggests the idea of grass pulled up, and bringing with it other stalks with whose roots it is connected. With firm correctness on the part of its subject, there will be good fortune and progress. |
| The third line, divided, shows its subject ashamed of the purpose folded in his breast. |
| The fourth line, undivided, shows its subject acting in accordance with the ordination of Heaven, and committing no error. His companions will come and share in his happiness. |
| The sixth line, undivided, shows the overthrow and removal of the condition of distress and obstruction. Before this there was that condition. Hereafter there will joy. |
| The situation is changing rapidly, but neither Yin (the passive feminine force) nor Yang (the active masculine force) is gaining ground. |
| The future is embodied in Hexagram 63 - Chi Chi (After Completion): We see progress and success in small matters. There will be advantage in being firm and correct. There has been good fortune in the beginning, but there may be disorder in the end. |
 | The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Chi'en (Heaven), which is transforming into K'an (Water). As part of this process, strength and creativity are giving way to danger and the unknown. |
 | The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram K'un (Earth), which is transforming into Li (Fire). As part of this process, docility and receptivity are giving way to brightness and warmth. |
