The present is embodied in Hexagram 51 - Chen (Shock): There is an intimation of ease and development. When the time of movement comes, the subject will be found looking out with apprehension, yet smiling and talking cheerfully. When the movement, like a crash of thunder, terrifies all within a hundred li, he will be like the sincere worshipper, who is not startled into letting go his ladle and cup of sacrificial spirits.
The second line, divided, shows its subject, when the movement approaches, in a position of peril. He judges it better to let go the articles in his possession, and to ascend a very lofty height. There is no occasion for him to pursue the things he has let go, for in seven days he will find them.
The third line, divided, shows its subject distraught amid the startling movements going on. If those movements excite him to proper action, there will be no mistake.
The fifth line, divided, shows its subject going and coming amidst the startling movements of the time, and always in peril. Perhaps he will not incur loss, and find business which he can accomplish.
The situation is shifting, and Yang (the active masculine force) is becoming much more powerful.

The future is embodied in Hexagram 43 - Kuai (Resolve): It is required that the culprit's guilt be exhibited in the royal court, along with a sincere and earnest appeal for sympathy and support, with consciousness of the peril involved in cutting off the criminal. He should also make announcement in his own city, and show that it will not be well to have recourse at once to arms. In this way there will be advantage in whatever he shall go forward to.
The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Chen (Thunder), which is transforming into Tui (Lake). As part of this process, movement, initiative, and action are giving way to joy, pleasure, and attraction.
The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram Chen (Thunder), which is transforming into Chi'en (Heaven). As part of this process, movement, initiative, and action are giving way to strength and creativity.
