The present is embodied in Hexagram 17 - Sui (Following): There will be great progress and success, but one must be firm and correct. There will then be no error.
The first (bottommost) line, undivided, shows one changing the object of his pursuit. If he be firm and correct, there will be good fortune. Going beyond his own gate to find associates, he will achieve merit.
The second line, divided, shows us one who cleaves to the little boy, and lets go the man of age and experience.
The fourth line, undivided, shows us one followed and obtaining adherents. Though he be firm and correct, there will be evil. If however, he be sincere however in his course and make that evident, unto what error will he fall?
The situation is shifting, and Yin (the passive feminine force) is gaining ground.

The future is embodied in Hexagram 29 - K'an (Water): We see the possession of sincerity, through which the mind is penetrating. Action in accordance with this will be of high value.
The things most apparent, those above and in front, are embodied by the upper trigram Tui (Lake), which is transforming into K'an (Water). As part of this process, joy, pleasure, and attraction are giving way to danger and the unknown.
The things least apparent, those below and behind, are embodied by the lower trigram Chen (Thunder), which is transforming into K'an (Water). As part of this process, movement, initiative, and action are giving way to danger and the unknown.
